A friend of mine is an avid photographer who usually shoots a Canon APS-C format camera (I don't know which model). She also has a G10, which is now having non-functioning AF (it sounds like it's working, but doesn't focus), and has been told that the G10 is "not repairable". In May, this lady will be taking a trip to the Galapagos and wants to take a high quality, compact camera with her. I told her I'd be happy to show her my GXR, however, I do not have the S10 or P10 modules--only the A12 28 & A12 50. I'm not sure, but I think she will want a zoom lens. I'm impressed by the images I've seen here in the forum by members with GRs, GXs, and GXRs with the smaller sensor modules, and I really feel Ricoh makes a better than average camera and would like to recommend a Ricoh to my friend. Does anyone have any recommendations I might pass on to her?

Hi Ken,

If she was happy with G10, she cannot go wrong with GXR+S10 (eventually with TC-1 to give the S10 a 135mm boost).

On the other hand, we all know the M module is not the only planned APSC module for this year ;) The other one should be zoom module with 24-90 (or very similar) lens. And because the M mount module is planned for Autumn, I guess we will see the zoom module at around March(April), which was the usual time for GX announcements (except GX200). Of course, I can be completely wrong in my assumptions and expectations ;)

Thanks, Pavel. I will show her my GXR and let her know what options are (or will be) available. To 33dollars: I believe the G10 has manual focus, and I have a hazy recall from reading reviews a couple of years ago that it's a bit difficult to use that way. My friend is an older lady (in her early to mid-70s, I think) and may find manual focus too frustrating. Ken
