RAW + B&W

Is there a way to shoot in Raw (without jpeg) but to have the LCD in B&W? Because I need no jpeg but I want the LCD in B&W to have a better feeling for it (I will pp. the raw files to B&W)

On my Nex 5n I can shoot raw only but with B&W Layer but on the Ricoh it doesn't seem to work : S

I hope you can help me...

To date, there is no way. I want the exact same thing. I set to raw & jpeg set to B&W same as you.
I don't use the jpegs but it still is a thorne in my side. If you find a solution, please pass it on.

Ha! Same problem here. I only want the screen to be BW, because I junk the JPGs when I get home ><

Hope ricoh will fix this in the future... I think the best solution is to set the jpeg file to "vga" so its very small and doesn't need much space and writing time.

Yeah, this is a concern but I love the cameras so I am learning to be tolerant.
The problem gets worse if you decide to do a scene mode. I did some HiBW and forgot about them on import. Well, I might be a good shooter but that doesn't mean I the smartest.

There are other cameras that make a B&W screen without generating a jpeg.
Anyway, I just grin & bear it.

If I set raw only on my GRD4 , then set b&w. I get b&w screen and b&w replay. But the final result on my computer is a colour raw file .

That is correct, the sensor is a colour device or in other words the sensor is setup to output colour via Bayer patterns so the RAW file has to be colour.
The Leica Monochrom M is a BW only sensor so the RAW files are BW.

Do you also get a jpeg on the card? The point of this thread is that we and many more want what you say you have.
If I set raw only and B&W I get a color screen.
this is because there is no jpeg to generate the B&W image.

If I set Fine at image settings, I get a B&W screen but also the pesky jpeg.
Please advise. Thank You.

Ok. Just checked settings. Seems it does write jpeg and raw to sd card. But ! when importing into aperture it only shows DNG's
Found this out by opening the card for the first time , and not going through Aperture. Sorry if i excited you

Hey my friend, it's ok.... I get excited very easy these days..... :lol:
This probably won't be in a firmware fix...
