Photokina 2012

Yesterday I visited Ricoh at the Photokina in Cologne.
I am a little bit disappointed, nothing new for the GXR...
I was hoping for a new M-Mount or that they could promise something like this. Nothing...

Also I visited the Ricoh stand on last Friday,
had a good "chat" with the Ricoh guy about new products to come,
( there was no product release or demonstration )

Ricoh guy behind the counter told me,
- no GXR news in the past months, Ricoh was busy with Pentax

future GXR products could be ( no details given )
- new body
- 35mm GR Lens
- wireless kit ( wireless link : GXR body < - > lens ).

have a nice day

Roland, bear with me friend. I'm old and from Philly.
My brain used to go on vacation but my wife says its now retired.

I'm confused by your post, both of them. Please, explain so I can understand better what you discovered.
Thanks...don

Thanks for the info, Roland.

This is actually the first news regarding Ricoh from PhotoKina and for a long time time before that.

I have a question about wifi.

Is wifi in the new body, or do you have to have the combination of the new body and the new 35 mm Camera Unit (meaning that wireless will not work for the old camera units)?

sorry, hard to believe. ricoh is not presenting anything new, neither telling new products to journalists but only to you ? well who are you than ?

integrated wireless of eye-fi support?

I would guess that wireless kit means Eye-fi support ala GRD IV.

sorry I don't want to confuse,

Let me be clear;
I'm a happy GRX user, visiting Photokina asking question to Ricoh " what new product will come ",
and this is what he told me.

I edited my first mail above.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah it seems logical that Ricoh and Pentax had their hands full with integrating both groups. Seems Photokina was mostly focussed on Pentax news and that was also stuff that they were working on before the take over.

I this imaging resource interview there is some more info given on the organization and where they stand, nothing news about future products though: http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/20 ... -medium-fo
Seems CES might be the next target for new products.

The development cycles for Ricoh take longer than with other companies with more resources. The A16 only came out half a year ago.

With the latest developments in sensors etc there are lots of options available for future GXR modules (1" sensor, full frame like Sony RX1, Q-mount still seems a direction for Pentax). Me I would be happy with a faster focussing APS-C 50 module and a 85-100mm equivalent APS-C module.

Regards Remko

What about the non-optical modules? M-module seems to be a success so it would be interesting to see what next. Maybe the printer module? Too bad that Zinc technology is still such a utter crap (I have heard that fuji has something better with the same form factor). Maybe the hdd-module? But today with 128GB of SD cards there is almost no point anymore...

Maybe a "cinema module" as thats where the market seems to be going?

Thanks for the link, Remko. I think things will work out good in the end; just might take a little time for them to integrate and plan a new road-map for both companies.
