Photographic Show opening

A week ago Friday night we found ourselves in Rockland Maine at the opening of a photographic show. The black and white old fashioned prints were truly amazing. The size and clarity speak of a photographic and darkroom master. Anyhow here are 4 shots of the show. In the third picture Paul Caponigro is the white haired gentleman sitting on the bench .

I know what you mean, I have seen some BW prints, not overly large or of any amazing subject, (the subject was interesting though) and the prints have just stopped me dead in my tracks and I just stare and stare.
Its seems using the camera is 50% of the image making process. Post process either in a wet room or "light room" along with framing and display make another 50%.

Paul reads as a very interesting person, you were fortunate to see him and his images.

Tim I agree with your comments. As for Paul, he is an example of a life dedicated to the photographic art with amazing images to show for it.

I have been in struggling to find my way through the field of post processing for 9 month and recently bought a printer. Now I am also looking for a path though the forest of ICC profiles, color management, printer paper, matting, mounting and framing. . I never had enough patience for the wet darkroom when I was younger. Now the "light-room" is a bit faster and I have more time available and patience.
