Well, been a long time coming....but I have come back to the forum from other lands.

As much as I liked the Fuji X100S, I wasn't hitting the mark with street shots as much as I did with the GRD3. In addition, the bulk of the Fuji made it difficult to hold in one hand (I have to, I have Parkinson's tremor on my left hand)

So, au revoir to Fuji and Aloha to the GXR/M-Mount/Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Bio combo.

I hope I get on well with it.....have always fancied one. Looking forward to posting and seeing old friends.

Pete, this comes as a real surprise. The exiting of the "Beloved X100s". I gotta say, as much as I love my XP1's, the GXR is so much smaller and efficient.
Good luck old man...seeya around...

I myself am happily in love with Penelope the White GRD4 and having a nice compact romance.

Nice to see you back here Pete! Looking forward to seeing the Zeiss in action...I actually have this lens though not to hand at present. I found a little play with this combination, but had concluded that it was the lens where the slack was...it otherwise works perfectly well though!

Hi Pete,

I am a bit surprised the X100 didn't work well for you, but also not surprised.
I had one for a while but quit it also. For me I found it was too much of a lump in my hands, I was too used to the svelte compact GR series.
The GRDs ruined the X100 for me. The X100 was lovely to use but no so much to tote.
I also had situations where I put a fully charged X100 in my bag only to find on arrival somewhere that the power switch had been knocked on and a totally dead battery.

The wider view of the 21mm will abate and lesson some of the camera shake you may suffer in Parkinsons.
I have a brother who has Parkinsosns also and he is currently using a GF1.
He uses a lot of bracing techniques to get by.

Have you got a A12 28mm module? Maybe that is also worth a try.

cheers guys. I almost cried when I left the Fuji behind.....I nearly went back for it. It was a truly lovely camera and I squeezed some very nice shots out of it from a tripod. It just felt clumsy in my hand for street work and I felt very aware of it.....that it wasn't part of my hand. Having said that.....the GXR; although smaller and more palmable does have the 21mm Zeiss Bio on the front ....quite a protrusion! But it seems to balance for me and I put my 2 fingers around the barrel like a sideways V for Victory sign and the bottom right edge of the camera smack in the middle of my palm. I like the feel of it, and I like the flexibility it will give me regarding lens choice. Bearing in mind my Parkinson's I was a bit worried about manual focus, but I was pleased yesterday in that I just stuck it on f/8 or f/11, shutter at 1/125th or 1/250th outdoors (even down to 1/40th indoors in gloom) and auto hi ISO, focussed at 2mtrs...and all my shots were pretty much perfectly focussed. I love this one. PP'd in LR5

Nice to hear from you again! I am already looking forward to your inimitable photos. Picture #1 is already a great success!

Welcome back Peter. Your Flickr stream is filling up with really beautiful stuff - "Light, Dark, Texture" is a great capture, and there are many others, nice to see color in the stream as well.
