Some pics from today, taken with A12 28mm and P10. It's (Edit 5-5-2012:) NOT difficult to see witch one is the A12 and witch one is the P10... (I don't like the P10 very much).

I see what you mean, but I don't know what kind of tree that is :( I think these trees will be green later in the season...

I forgot the word NOT in my original post, which probably might it look a bit strange... (sorry).
Text is now changed :D

Excellent set! My faves are 9, 17, 21 & 22 (especially). Very fine work indeed ;) .

Actually, it's not easy for me to tell the difference between the lenses (especially since I don't own the 28mm), but I'm guessing the first two were taken with the P10 (colours are a little too vivid) :?: But I'm probably wrong...I haven't experienced many different lenses, so I can't really compare, but I quite like my P10. I think it's very underrated, and it's capable of producing excellent results if the image settings are tweaked to get the max out of this lens. At its best settings, it produces amazing colour and stunning B&W. Same with the CX3 I used previously. Sure, they're not high-end lenses, but set right, they can produce images that rival those produced by the high-end glass, IMHO. The images produced at full zoom, and with 27cm macro are also quite impressive, if the camera is stabilised enough. The P10 has its limitations, but what it can do is amazing, especially considering it is a "lower-end" lens.

Since I cannot afford the more expensive lenses, I have to try to get the best out of what I can afford, so I don't think about what the P10 cannot do, but rather, I think about what I can do with it. To be honest, since I haven't had the opportunity to use high-end glass, I have a certain naivety and ignorance about what I might be "missing out" on, but this is what enables me to be satisfied with what I have got, and to try and get the best out of it. This, I think, can be a good thing, as it will make me a better photographer. I am actually really thankful to Ricoh for producing a more affordable lens for the GXR, and one which can also produce excellent pictures. If it weren't for this lens, I would not have been able to have the "GXR experience". So for me, the P10 is just right :) .

Thanks for your comments Athena. I had some focus problems with my P10 (at full zoom) and, of course, I'm accustomed to my A12 :D , so maybe it's myself and I just have to use the P10 a little bit more :D
Reading your post I realize that I didn't use a tripod at full zoom  That will be a part of my "problem". I realize of course that the comparison is not fair. Compared with my wifes compact camera the P10 is pretty good :D
#3, 4, 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10, 11 and 28 are "P10 photos".

Genster the photos for me have good colour ,and sharp detail comes through of the buildings 8 10 13 18,will have :) to move up to a GXR...great pic

No worries, thanks for your reply ;) .

Yeah, there can be problems with the focusing at times, which is when I switch to manual focusing if the other methods fail.

Even just stabilising the camera some other way is fine. I've only used my tripod twice on photo trips with the GXR so far, as I get too lazy to take it out, so I just find something to place the camera on, or brace myself against.

I certainly got that wrong then, didn't I    .

Is that supposed to be 18? Not sure which one as there's no 28.

Thanks again Athena, especially for the manual focus tip. Never thought of it
Photo 28 must be 21, sorry for the mistake :D

It's nice to see a set like this taken when the weather was quite dull ('boring' skies) which I think gives a peaceful feeling to the pictures (clearly no wind either). #22 is my favourite too. I looked at #18 wondering where all the people were....then I came to #19...are you trying to tell us something? Also, how is it possible to take so many pictures in the Netherlands with NO bicycles in shot??! You know I like bicycles.

Richard

Thanks Richard!
Don't worry, I think the people in the houses of Ooltgensplaat (#18) are still alive :D
And now you mention it, I did not see a bicycle at all that day  but I will make it up to you soon :D
