November contest finished! Thank you all who participated! As I expected, the Portrait theme was a huge success. A lot of very nice entries!

It's a pity some of this month's entries did not meet the contest rules (missing EXIFs and linking from other sites). I'm very sorry guys, but I really cannot check each contest entry before end of the month and contact you in case of problems. The rules are given and mentioned with bold font at start of each contest. So please, read the rules carefully and upload your entries instead of linking them from other sites. The unfortunate members for November contests are these:

Dear Pavel,
Sorry to have missed a chance to join this competition but I read this at the bottom of the ' how to load page' and took that to mean it was OK to link from Flickr;

If you wish to post an image, which is already hosted somewhere (flickr, picasa, pbase, etc..) here is a description how to link these pics.

Flickr:
Right click on image you wish to post and from the appeared menu select "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) or "Properties" (IE/Firefox), select the Location/Address from the appeared dialog and then simply press Ctrl+C. Now you have the address in clipboard. Go to your forum post, click on the img button and simply paste the address stored in clipboard (Ctrl+V) between the displayed

tags.[/color]

It loaded OK onto your page and as it was on Flickr it comes with EXIF data at the more properties section at the bottom of each picture. Perhaps you should remove this information so no one else misreads it. How can we tell if a picture does still havs EXIF data?

Hello Peter. I'm sorry you missed this competition. But I'm afraid, the rules are the rules. The instructions about posting images in this forum are just "general" instructions. It is, of course, allowed to link images from other sites, with just one exception - contest threads. The rules mentioned at start of each contest clearly asks for "uploading" images directly in post. However, hot-linking is not that serious problem as missing EXIF.

As far as I know, Flickr preserves EXIF only in the "original" size of the uploaded image. So if you are sure that your originally uploaded image contained EXIF, always link the "original" size of the photo and not the reduced version. Flickr simply strips the EXIF from reduced versions of the image.

To check if your contest photo contains EXIF or not, open the image in any good image viewer or editor (before uploading it to the contest thread). Ricohforum does not edit the uploaded images in any way.

There were many great photos posted this month and it was really hard to pick the best two.

I like the "duo" portrait because of its overall mood and feel. I believe these two ladies are sisters? It seems they are still in a very good condition for their age and very good state of mind?

I think Pung's photo is street/candid photo rather than a portrait. However, it's very well taken and processed. I'm curious if it's natural or prepared scene? In any case, it's a very good photo.

From the rest of photos, I would like to mention aguila's "Sailor" for its dynamic pose and rough atmosphere, Wouter's "daughter" for its happiness and joy reflected in the daughter's face. Lrcphoto's "Grumpy nephew" is well captured photo at right time. I like also the Shiro Kuro's "Cold Nigth". Despite somewhat unfocused face, the overall atmosphere of this photo is very nice. APScribble's "Sad Clown" is very well processed B&W photo of not very funny (and so sad and maybe scary) clown I like also the mvf3's "self portrait. The idea and processing is nice, however, the face is only a small portion of the photo.

Photo "2Portraits" was performed in Wroclaw during the birthday celebrations, which met two sisters. Both have the same sweaters (a gift the younger sister). In their behalf, thank you for the compliment ;-)
The photo was made gx100 + converter + flash FL-36.

Congratulations "pung" Pictures "Men and dog" (a great shot and colors!),I like this. In assessing the other photos, close to me are the opinions of Pavel.
