Hi folks,

What do you think about next RicohForum meet-up? But this time, announced with enough time in advance? ;)

Cristian (VladimirV) came up with nice idea about different meet-up location than traditional London and maybe even to have two separate meet-ups (if there will be enough interest)? Feel free to express your opinion regarding your preferred meet-up place and date in the above poll. Please select one place and date. Date is always Saturday, which should be good for all travelers?

Please, cast your vote only in case you are really considering to join us in either place. Of course, we will not rip your head off in case you will not be able to make it. Some of us would already be headless from the last time ;)

UPDATE 2.5.2010
OK folks, I think it's about the time to announce the final date and place? ;)

Unfortunately, we have to skip the idea of two meet-ups at the same date, just different places. We hoped Wouter would be a leading person of Amsterdam meet-up. Unfortunately, he is unable to make it on either date. And we also have nobody from Ricoh for Amsterdam meet-up. So after considering all other options, this meet-up will be on 5th June and will again be in London.

The precise time and place will be announced later. But I assume both time and place will be the same as first and 3rd (skipped) meet-up (The Bridge Lounge - 12:00). It's easy to find, close to all major transportation services and the Bridge Lounge is large and quiet enough for our purposes. Any objections? ;)

Here you can see some photos from the first meet-up in the Bridge Lounge:

Key dates and facts:

Date: 5-6-2010
Start time: 12:00
Place: The Bridge Lounge - > see google map <

Please, keep watching this post (just in case of "last minute" changes and updates)! The best would be to tick the "Subscribe Topic" link at bottom of this topic.

If you want to join us, please express your interest in the above poll. Just vote for "London". We need to know an approximate number of people expected to come, just to book the places in The Bridge Lounge (or anywhere else). Voting for any other place (or date) is neither required nor expected;) Thanks!

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

will need to check the calender......but would love to try to make it this time.......as long as there are no birthday celebrations as usually happens!

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

Guys, I'm sorry to inform you that we had to change one of the meet-up dates due to Cris's unavailability for that date. And because Cris is a leading person of all our meet-ups, we need to select another date ;)

Sadly, the affected date is the one with most votes up to now (29.5.). It's now changed to 5.6. I already contacted all of you who voted for previous date. Of course, all of you can reconsider your previous votes and change them according to your preference.

Thank you for understanding!

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

Sorry guys, off to the South of France next week, until October for the Classic Car rally season. Hard life I know but someone's got to do it.

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

Is there any final result yet? Ryanair has a special "after vulcano ashes sales" until 26.04. only.
Belongs to the polls it shall happened on 05.06. in London. Is that correct?

Please let us know what is the status of the meet-up.

I like to come to London if I can get a cheap flight......

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

Well, it seems 5.6. is the best date for most voters? I will have to contact the main guests and confirm the date and place with them. London seems have a slight edge in popularity. But there is still a possibility of Amsterdam meet-up! What about two meet-ups at the same date? Of course, not with the same people ;) But if there is enough people willing to go to either place, why not to organize two meet-ups instead of skipping one of them?

Re: Next Ricoh Forum meet-up - choose place and time!

OK. If there is still a chance for Amsterdam, I like to go to Amsterdam....(than I easily come by car, may with my son for a nice 1-2 day Trip).

When will we have the result?

I just updated the first post. Unfortunately, we have to skip the idea of two meet-ups at the same date. So it will again be London.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum.
I cast a vote for meeting in London.
Do I just turn up?

I have a Ricoh GRDiii which I will bring along =o)
Thanks a lot!

Hi mootaineer and welcome here! And you are welcome to join us in the Bridge Lounge! I was just about to refresh this post.

It's less than two weeks (next Saturday!) to the meetup folks! I got a confirmation from our special guest Mr. Tohru Kodama from Ricoh Europe. And there will be, of course, also Cris Sorega and Tom Dymond (with his fantastic Epson RD1)! I really wish I could be there with all of you. Most unfortunately, I'm unable to make it this time :( But I have no doubt that Cris and Tom will be excellent hosts as always. Both previous meetups were great and I'm sure this one will not be different. So if you have no particular plans for next Saturday and you are from London or near London, you should not miss it!

So guys, what was the meetup? I'm eager to hear some news! I'm so sad I could not be there with you :(

I would have enjoyed meeting up too, but being on the other side of the planet makes it costly unless I wrangle a holiday as well :) -- I hope you all had a great time!

I was able to get to the meeting in London last Saturday, but unfortunately I couldn't stay more than a couple of hours. However, it was nice to meet fellow Ricoh enthusiasts; talk about cameras and about taking pictures.

It was my first opportunity to check out the GXR with a selection of different modules. My immediate impression was that it was as well thought out and engineered as my GRD III. I have a lot of respect for a company that goes to that sort of length to get things right. That said, I found the GXR too big for my liking, but I still think it's a unique and exciting concept and I'll follow its development with interest.

I also had a chance to try out the GH-2 Adaptor / GW-2 21mm lens combination on my GRD III, and I was a lot more impressed than I had expected to be. Those few millimeters certainly make a big difference! And it was fun to see how the attached lens completely changed the appearance of the GRD.

It was really good to meet everybody who were there and it was a very nice gesture that Kodama-san had travelled from Germany to be with us.
