New Ricoh GR user... and some questions :)

Hi all...

Got a spanking new GR this week. Sold my GF1, 20mm, 45-200mm, 12-35mm recently. Felt that though it was small it is still not small enough.
I have a leica d-lux 6... and now i have this. Going all compact.

Just have a few questions as it seems to behave different than the d-lux:

1) In Full auto mode, can I set the focus to spot? Seems like when i change in menu it still uses 9 multi focus.
2) If I am in full auto, depressing button fully will automatically be snap focus shot?
3) If using snap focus, does turning off the AF green light cause any problems?
4) Spot focus i am looking for one green square right? the camera comes up with a few green squares still...

Sorry, am slowly going through the manual for this as well.

THanks!

Hi Owen and a welcome.
I had a GF1 with 20 for a while. Mine never got a lot of use, the GRDs I had just so much easier to tote and access.

Glad you worked out the behavior of your GR. The AF mode on my GR I access with a push in of the jog lever, then toggle to AF mode and choose snap from there. The snap behavior is best modified in the menus but it seems you've found these options.

I had a Pana LX3 for a while and it was a good companion to the GRDs I found, not a competitor.
I once took both on a holiday and it was remarkable how you reached for one or the other and it seemed the best tool for the job.
Hope to see some images from either camera sometime!

Cheers
