New Lens Adapter

Well, well, how exiting. That`s true, Metabones optical 0,7 converter does just that, making 50 into 35 and giving one stop extra. BUT, it works with FF lenses ( to start with Canon ) on APS-C and down. That means that Leica FF lenses can`t be used on m-mount. Perhaps it would be possible to pull this trick with Fuji X mount which has 17mm flange dist which I still doubt, because leicas flange of 28,8 minus fujis 17 leaves us with 11.8mm thickness for converter which would not enough to house four glass elements of Metabones design. Metabones converter is meant for Eos lenses of 44mm flange for Sony Nex mount of 18mm which gives us 26mm space which makes such a device feasible. Beside it, Metabones 0.7 converter is primarly meant for use of FF lenses on e-mount and m4/3 mount video cams which put much less demand on the resolution and aberrations then still photography. Otherwise a cool idea.

As an EOS lens owner who believes that EVIL type cameras are the way of future I am going to try it. As EOS lenses are electronic everything it takes more than a dumb adapter to make it work. Unlikely for EOS to LM but miracles are possible as this adapter proves. Have to use a NEX-6 for this, but only testing, not leaving Ricohland.
