New GX100 owner with no camera :(

That sounds worse than it is. :D

My camera actually is waiting for me in England, where I'll be in May, and it has already arrived at my Mother's house. I was going to head up to Ffordes Photographic near Inverness to pick it up personally (not trusting that the post office wouldn't drop it a few times in shipment), but just didn't think I'll have the time.

Why buy a camera 3 months in advance? Well, I didn't think there would be any GX100s left by the time I arrived and didn't want to spend time looking around for one while I was there. My step father is celebrating his 90th birthday the weekend after I arrive and I wanted a new camera to mark the event. Hopefully, the GX100 will be easy enough to figure out that I'll be able to take pictures like the one below.

The Ricoh cameras are very easy to use and figure out so you should not need too much time. Best is to shoot RAW in the beginning till you get used to the metering, AWB and best JPG settings. You can also always read the manual in advance, you can find it on the Ricoh website but to be honest I never read it for any camera ;).

Good choice! GX100 is still one of the best Ricoh cameras (right after GRD ;)). Actually, in some aspects it's even better than both GX200 and GRDII, because of not so processed (noise reduced) look of JPEG files and available phase detection AF. So you did very well purchasing new GX100 even 3 months in advance! I guess there is not soo many new GX100's left at this time ;)
