Pavel,
I misunderstood your earlier answer, I have reset the first station on the adj wheel for flash exp compensation now.
Oh this works so well now!!!!
This camera rocks more and more.

maybe it deserves respect that Ricoh cares about old models in terms of FW updates, but maybe it´s self-evident if you think about the money, you paid for a compact camera with average noise behaviour, and below average raw writing speeds. In my opinion Ricoh should listen to and read more of the things, the customers are asking for in several forums etc. The mentioned wider bracketing steps have been on several "function wishlists" for a very long time and still are not implemented. Also the freeze problem, caused by the ADJ. button on some models was not solved in FW 2.40 which makes me wanting to kick Ricoh´s butt, because it´s obvoiusly a FW problem which first occured with FW 2.31.
Because of several exams I still didn´t have the time to send the camera in for service but I will do it now and hope, they will fix all the problems, I have with the GRD (freezing, dust spots, grip rubber comes off etc.).
Kamil, the more I read about the ADJ freezing, the more I think it's rather a HW problem, which only accidentally appeared after 2.31. Maybe there is something in GRD HW that after a year or so of use causes this freeze? And maybe this is also the reason of replacing the wheel with lever? I now have both GRD and GRD II, so I'm going to try to reproduce this problem.
About the bracketing, I cannot agree more. The 0.5EV is really small range. And as I work for a company producing one of the best HDR softs (Dynamic Photo HDR), I really like to take the HDR shots I'm still pushing on wider bracketing range in GRD/GX100. I'm sure (I hope) they will add this withing the GRD2 life cycle.
Lili, people started to report this problem after 2.31. But I think I somewhere read that the problem is still there even after downgrading the camera with older firmware. So this is why I think it's not a SW but rather a HW problem.
Nono, Type is not the line you should check. Look at CPU2 or ADJ line. Here you should read 2.40. Anything under 2.40 means that your camera is not updated.
I am trying to update the original firmware to the newest one on a Mac, but it does not seem to work. I updated the Caplio Mounter first to the latest version, but when I try to run the update firmware program, nothing is happening. I put the camera in NORMAL mode. Does it mather in which program the camera is while starting the update? If anybody can help me, I would be very happy!
I have just updated my ricoh, I was too lasy to do it since today.
The only thing that decide me to do it is the display feature as I always work with the GV-1 and do most of time instinctive shot in manual mode.
This is why having Speed/Aperture only displaying is important for me.
Perhaps I Miss some thing about this feature as I understand that it works when we half press the shuter button and in my case it only works with the ADJ Weel.
I have Monitor Sync OFF/ Display Info YES.
Can some one confirm me how it works ?
Thanks, and Bravo for this website dedicated to Ricoh GR.
If you expect to see the status information (like shutter speed, aperture and some other actual settings) on the black background (with no image) and all the time the camera is record mode, then I'm afraid, that's not possible. I'm missing this feature too.
The actual behavior is that the status screen is displayed only if you use scroll wheels or press any button that changes the camera settings. This status information display disappears right after half pressing the shutter.
I agree that it would be very useful to have such option to display the status information on a black screen and display it all the time the camera is in record mode. It would allow us to check the composition in a viewfinder and without hassling with buttons immediately check also the actual camera settings (just by short look down, without actually moving the head out of the viewfinder).
Such feature would be very nice also for GX100/200. Just display the image in a viewfinder and all status information on the black LCD. I will try to summarize this feature request and send it to Ricoh. I'm sure it's doable and would be very useful addition both for GRDII and GX200. But I don't think there is a chance to persuade Ricoh to implement such addition also in GRD,GX100. These are already discontinued models.
