Nearly three months silence from Ricoh

Was just looking at the Ricoh website digital camera section (http://ricoh.com/r_dc/) and noticed that there hasn't been a single Ricoh announcement relating to current cameras/new firmware/new products for nearly three months. The months before that were certainly a little busier. I know that they bought Pentax recently and are deciding (have decided?) their strategy, but nothing at all from Ricoh, not even a tease with a greyed out roadmap, is a little disconcerting. They haven't even updated the site to show the latest Pentax products (K-01 or K-30).

Anyone any idea when Ricoh will announce what's happening (or at least what's happening to the GXR/GRD lines)?

They just don't want to bother their users. They're all too busy making photos.

The Pentax stuff is up against a lot of stiff competition. Of course the Ricoh's really aren't as they set the benchmark. I think in due time, things will get exciting.

Yes, the silence IS a little ominous...my local dealer told me that all their Ricoh products were being increased in price, aparently to bring them into line with Pentax's price structure. Would this suggest that Ricoh camera affairs are now in the hands of Pentax? This might explain the lack of 'road map' or other information on the ricoh direction...

contrst this hear -> contest this year? :)

I would be surprised if they increase their prices on the existing product lines. Maybe on new ones, but who would accept substantial price increases on 2 year old products? (It is somewhat encouraging that their usual replacement schedule is every two years IIRC so maybe we'll see new - if expensive - goodies soon.)

I can concur with this finding, when I went to bu a GRD IV, I watched the market for a bit, I notice that the prices had increased. When I asked they said, "set by the supplier"

It could be Ricoh are busy with restructure. Also the Japanese Quake was not all that long ago

Agree with Tim. They are most probably busy with settling things down. And according to this statement, Ricoh brand will continue alongside with Pentax. So I think there is nothing to worry about.

I think this is most likely due to currency changes, the yen has become more expensive from a dollar and euro perspective.
