All my used RR-series Ricohs have failed shortly after I've started to use them. Not saying to discourage you, though, just crying over investments - eur12 and eur5, respectively

The RR30 can be very capable if handled correctly. The zoom are optically very good with smooth bokeh for macro,from my experience with the 300G which is based on the RR30. Also white balance used to be almost foolproof.
However I found it to be a slightly mixed bag overall. The Adj-button hadn't been introduced yet so one had to go into the menu to since be able and adjust exposure-compensation in live-view. While the shutter-lag and focus is rather fast it is very noisy auditive wise. Especially during startup or shutdown. I was surprised by how small the RR30 actually are when I bought a used one some time ago. Unfortunately something was wrong as it not always would save taken pictures to the memory card. Tried with 2-3 different.
That lens error was fairly common for some users, but at least there was a fix.
