Genster

A few weeks before my vacation to Aruba, I bought an old Ricoh 500 G. The camera went on vacation and here are some pictures:

Kind regards,

It's strange nobody commented it, perhaps this topic is lost somewhere and is not visible to others ;) Good shots here, but have some lack of contrast for my taste.

Thanks for your comments, I'll try to think about adding some more contrast next time :D

Eerrrr, sorry Genster & dgilmour, I got lost in Genster's photo blog. Some very nice pictures in there. Its as if i went on holiday with his whole family.
As many of your film pictures from your holidays had sun, sky & clouds. For contrast I would use a K2 yellow filter for B&W film. Ø46 should do it with no adjustment because the light meter reads through the filter. With out the meter add one stop of ½ your shutter speed.
For colour film just a UV filer would be the go.
I did like that wind swept tree next to the beach you never posted here. ;)
Hay Genster! What scanner did you use to scan your neg's?

Hi Genster,
I too was lost...but back to my days of TV addiction in the early 1970's...these photos replicate this feel perfectly! :)
However, as those were my 'mis-spent' teenage years, I have been trying to forget them ever since...

i have a bag full of film that is is slowly moving past it's sell by date, i think these pictures may inspire me to open a can or so.
think it unlikely possible to care as much when shooting to a card, and dont believe that the 'reality' of time is 'held' as well as it is with film (i prefer Vinyl to CD ;)

much appreciated Genster, cheers Kort .

Thanks for the reply and filter-tips Phil, much appreciated.
I have never used a filter, but as soon as if I have some more free time I will collect some more information about the different filters and how to use them.

I brought my film roll to a big drugstore chain to let them develop it. They delivered paper prints, negatives and also a CD. So I did not scanned them myself

Thanks for your reply Kort.
I believe that a similar picture just have a little more 'character' than a digital picture. But for me the main reason to do it, is that it's just a lot of fun to shoot with an old camera and (for me) it's pretty exciting to wait one week (or longer) to see the results.
I hope to see some (digitized) analog pictures from you on the forum soon :D
