My Backyard - too late for contest

Marana

New Member
Yet again, a day late and a dollar short. Thought I'd post what I *would* have posted in the "Colour" competition. Ah well, the sun came out, ran out with my silver reflector to overcome the backlit western exposure. I had taken dozens of photos earlier in the day without the reflector, and without much sun. Nothing can replace actual light, though...

(It was my first day with the GXR A12 28mm unit.)

Well it certainly deserves a reply! I think you've done a great job with the lighting and the depth in the picture shouts GXR A12 and makes me think yet again that I should try to buy one one day.

Apologies Marana.....I don't comment on every post and usually only if I have the time. That certainly doesn't mean I didn't see nor like your photo.... I did very much. Honeysuckles are a favorite of mine, and you've done them justice....lovely colours and great DOF, with a nice perspective.....BTW I never have nor will give criticism, constructive or otherwise on the forum, but encouragement and positive words, yes. :D ;)...just my way.

Hmm... no replies or comments or constructive criticism?

Hi Marana,

I've been struggling to find "forum time" too, I'm glad you posted, your little burst of colour cheered me up.
I bet the scene looked great in real life.. and the smell of the garden !

I think it could have done well but I see there was stiff competition this month.
I do sometimes think of a past competition post thread!

Hi Marana,
I can understand your excitment of owning the GXR + 28mm unit! I obtained mine just before a visit to Madrid in November 2010 and was absolutely stunned by the results it produced.

On the lack of feedback question, unfortunately this forum has become a victim of it's own success. When I come online now I am often overwhelmed by the huge number of posts each week; therefore gone are the days when I could read every single post. There is another anomaly with the forum which causes me grief and am sure never used to happen. Now, after logging in but remaining idle for some time, I get kicked out and have to log in again. The problem with this is that when you then press the 'new posts' tab at the top, you lose all those entries which you were working through but had not had time to reach. I then find it a devil of a job to access the older posts in a methodical way and frequently give up! :(
Regardless, I am really really looking forward to seeing more of your A12 28mm postings sometime very soon! :D
I promise to look out for them...

Marana, I just saw your post... I find the picture very well done and the light wonderful as the DOF. Thank you to share.

Nice photo. Please don't think anyone was ignoring you. You know how Ricoh cameras are, ya just can't not stay busy with them.
I think the photo is "Up Close" ...(hint, hint).
