I don't know like you guys, but I'm seriously bored by all today's big-bang movies full of banal dialogs, explosions, sugary love stories, happy ends and so on. Fortunately, there is always an alternative. I'm generally not a big fan of so called "alternative" or "artistic" movies. They are often too hard to watch or even understand without couple of drinks and joints
But not all of them are like that! I just recently found movies written and directed by Koren filmmaker Kim Ki-duk and they are really great! Strong stories with great visual interpretation, very little dialogues and often not happy ending.
Some time ago, I saw one of Kim's movies, which I really liked (3-Iron). I was very happy realizing there is one Kim Ki-duk's movie played every week by a local TV. Of course, in the very late night hours and in Korean language with Czech subtitles. In any case, every movie was worth to see, despite the late hour and need of concentration on subtitles and story. Unfortunately, I missed the "Samaritan Girl". But there were three more movies presented in the past three weeks - 3-Iron, The Bow and Time. If you are interested in an alternative to today's mainstream movies, Kim Ki-duk's movies are really great (and not so hard to understand) choice!
