Blow-in

Active Member
My one for today taken with the GXR A12 50s of 4 rams...I think the dark ones are 'Zwartbles' and may be some one from the Netherlands can confirm this?

This was a real exposure challenge and the left hand white ram's face is blown out.

Still an acceptable exposure though Richard. I think we all are getting a little to fussy with this dynamic range thing.
I reckon your A12 could have handled at least 2 stops of under exposure in this scene, and still have given detail in the shadows.
But would those 2 stops have given any more detail in the sheep's head ?
As a rule I expose for the highlights and let the shadows take care of themselves. Even if that means zero detail.
Was this shot in DNG ? I've been surprised what can be brought back from highlights in the past.

Thanks Garry.

It was a Jpg shot. I normally expose for the highlights too (always with the GRD4) but wanted some detail in the 'black' sheep (actually dark brown). They were also moving around a bit so it wasn't always predictable when one of them would be in full sunlight.
