I took this shot of a lone Scots Pine in October last year...



Then we had a big storm in January, it and thousands of others, did not survive and it fell across the track. Now it has been cut-up:



I shall miss it.

Old trees are like old friends ...

(btw to me it doesn't look like a pine?)

It hurts me everytime to see an apparently healthy tree beeing cut down. In my old country Poland there were cases when some idiots demanded to eradicate old trees lining small secondary country roads because posing danger to drivers going of the lane and only few countered asking them to drive there slowly and carefully. Without trees the earth will die.

I have read, and it was fun and learned a lot.
