Menu langage problem on GRD IV.

Ho to you all !
Nice to meet you all !
I'am a happy new owner of a GRD IV bought in Japan, but the menu language is only available in English or Japanese, I thought it was available to a lot of language as seen on the manual before i buy it but it's not !
Since I'm french and that i would'nt like to miss anything in theses menus, do you know if there's a way to find some kinf of a French firmware or anything like that?
I've just installed the 230 firware thinking that it could update the language but nothing...
Any idea someone?

On my copy, there is a French choice. I have the USA version but not sure about yours. I believe the Japanese version only has the 2 in there but not 100% sure.

I think there are only these two choices yes bacause i've seen the menu on other ones and there are plenty of language available, only two on mine, but I can always mention that the Japanese packaging comes printed with soy ink (seriously), i guess that's the counter part .... :lol:

I'm afraid, this JP/EN-only language options is a specialty of many cameras (and electronic in general) bought in Japan. It's still a mystery to me why the manufacturers do so? But look on the brighter side...at least there is an EN option!

Hope you will enjoy your new GRD despite of this small flaw?

Yeah, no problem about enjoying my time with the GRD despite that language things, English is quite the norm now, French would just have been a weird advantage !

Hello,

I bought one on ebay GRDIV, Japanese seller.
The manufacturer number is 175720 and there are only two languages ​​(Japanese and English), even after the latest firmware 2.30.

mika_987 : Have you found a way to put the menu in french?

Just checked my GRD IV and it has all 14 languages. # XF 3710110xx purchased in Australia.
It's sorta silly not to put all the languages in every camera no matter where it goes around the world.

# XF 3710110xx is a serial number, Mine is XF00120xxx.
But, in Australia, maybe the manufacturer number is not : 175720 (as japan).

Hi folks,

There is unfortunately not an official/self-made way to add/enable more languages in these region-crippled cameras. But I got a tip that it may be possible to do this via Convar repair center! I would suggest you to contact them (via their contact page) with a question if they can do this for you or not. But I guess if they can, they will not do it for free?
