Living on diagonal

This thing is hardly 4cm long. You can try to imagine how "easy" it is to get the right angle of view and focus using only viewfinder with a DSLR in stretched hands on the edge of a pond (unwilling to get wet feet) with this shallow DOF quickly enough until the subject decides to set off and yet slowly enough to not scare it too early. I admire all macro insect shooters working with "wild" living creatures. But the fun is worth it (me thinks).

I like details here, especially in dragonfly's shadow. Great result in difficult conditions

Thanks for your encouragement, Sergey. I suspect the conditions were as they should be expected, i.e. quite normal for macro photography. Though I heard there are photographers using formaldehyde or glue or the like...

Thank you David for stopping by. As about your inquiry, not sure but I guess approximately half a metre having 105mm APSC macro (circa 160mm FF equivalent) put on.

I admired this shot when you first posted it, but did not have time 'til now to log-on...very nice shot though!
The shallow depth of focus and the neutral green background works extremely well...
