I remember it like yesterday when I decided to start with this forum. To be honest, I did not expect huge (if any) success. There are many well established digital camera forums, so starting new one is always a bet in a lottery. But I'm happy to say that RicohForum is still here and growing! To this day, we got over 680 registered members, almost 6000 posts and countless of very nice photos made with Ricoh cameras. The traffic jumped from initial 3GB to current 18-25GB of transferred data per each month.
We got some important sponsors, kindly providing us with SW prizes for our monthly contests. And of course, our main sponsor Ricoh provides me with the latest cameras so I can report you about enhancements, fixes and of course also some flaws of these new cameras
Although I don't have a direct feedback if Ricoh engineers read this board, it seems so. There were implemented at least two or three FW improvements first mentioned here and they also addressed some FW bugs based of findings of our members. So yes, we are in Ricoh's scope! I hope for even tighter cooperation in a future. My previous contact in Ricoh Europe returned to Japan and I'm now in touch with his successor. Another very kind person full of energy and fresh ideas.
During the past year, there were some important changes in my life so I was unable to fully concentrate on the RicohForum. I still need to finish all suggested changes and improvements we discussed in early RicohForum days (more themes, user galleries, blog and maybe conversion to IPB). My head is full of ideas what to do to improve this forum and make it even more useful and fun to use. The only limitation of my imagination is time. But I hope for an improvement in my time management in a near future.
So thank you all who contributed at RicohForum and I hope for more interesting discussions and even personal meetings! I'm sure there will be at least one or two international RicohForum meetings during next year, where we will share our experiences with Ricoh cameras and even drink some beers!
