Leica OVF's on GRD I/II

Hi all,

New owner of a GRD II. Just back from a family vacation, and the camera is superb. Saved me from lugging all my other gear. In fact, had more fun shooting b&w snaps than I have for a long time regardless of compact vs. DSLR or whatever.

Had a question with regard to Leica OVF's on the GRD II, and cannot seem to find information. I have access to a Leica 21mm OVF for little cost, and wanted to know if this would work on the GRD II with the GW-1 conversion lens. It would offset to the left and cover part of the flash, however, flash is of no concern for me at this FL.

I have tried the GV-1. The 21mm frame lines are close in 3:2, grudgingly acceptable in 4:3. The 28mm lines are useless in my opinion. I want an uncluttered 21mm view, so the Leica fits the bill if it indeed it accurate enough. I know their is a Voighlander 21mm as well, but would rather not spend more on it.

Anyone had experience with Leica finders on GRD's? Thanks in advance.

If you have access to one at a good price, I'd say pick it up and try it out. Leica products have historically performed better than the stock market in terms of value, so it's tough to go wrong! :)
