I find these very interesting. You have a way of framing your subject matter that stays consistent with different subject matter. This is not as common as one would believe or wish.

hello tel ;) a most interesting set of which i like images '2' & '3' very much .... as with 'streetshooter' - lovely framing and colour and also have a quite unusually pleasant feel of the dreamlike

Kort .

:)

Mmm, square format..a difficult format to please the eye.....and you've done it really well. Love the subjects, colours, but mostly the different shapes and textures...wonderful. :D

@Khortal. It was a dreamlike day. Very special light situation and a mood of fading summer.
@streetshooter. I'm glad xou like them. Yes, I always try to obey the situation while framing.
@Marcus. Thank you. The most important thing is, that I like my pictures, the second important thing is, that others like my pictures. :) Above al stays the judgment and expression of thoughts about the pictures. That was your part.

I liked seeing these, and enjoyed also going over the photos on your blog. #3 here, with the two paths, is especially attractive to me - gives the feeling of two different choices to be made....

I only saw two photos on your blog using the Sigma DP (the flowers in "landscape") - I'd be happy to hear how you feel about the DP as opposed to the GXR : aside from the GXR being a much more versatile camera, do you feel something different about the images from each ? If you were to shoot the same image in good light with both cameras, would you be able to tell them apart?

@quester. Welcome! Nice to read, that you had been on my blog. Be my guest there as often as you like.

Well now. The DPs. I love them. They are made for daylight and colors. But the B/W results are amazing as well. Files are full of details and light-informations. You can handle them very well after developing in SPP. The AF is not as poor as rumors suggests. For fast shooting you just use zone-focusing. The manual focusing wheel is perfectly set here. The unique thing about the DPs is the filmlike feeling of their output. But it's only a feeling. That means, if you or someone else would process some files of the same image of the Ricoh and the DP I couldn't tell you witch is witch. It depends on the workflow. If I would process them, I could tell you witch is witch ;)

I hope I answered your questions. If not, feel free to ask more!

That is one of the best answers I have received about the DP! So, the "Foveon" look is also connected to the personal PP each one does, not something which automatically stands out?
I have come to see that what interests me most in scenery/landscape shots is sharpness and detail, and basically I am looking to pass the stage of the "flatness" of the small sensor images, like those of the PX. I am considering the DP series because of that certain "pop-out" quality that can be felt in some of the images, and because it is so compact and basic. I shoot only in good light, so am not worried about the DP's lack of abilities in this aspect.

IMHO quester....go for it!.... I for one would love to see what you could do with a DP, going by your subject matter in previous posts. :D

You are right. Sigma files need some PP. And you some experience on SPP to gain the results you want. But that's the same with every file of any camera, I think. My GXR files are very detailed and full of information as well. But they don't have the same color behavior like the Sigma files. Just try. I would recommend to buy a cheap used first generation DP1 to play around a bit. It's a good landscape and challenging camera.

(Regarding my other post here, I have to apologize my bad orthography. "witch is witch" is definitely wrong. The word which doesn't have anything to do with witches.... :D )

Thanks for the advice, and no need to apologize for spelling - your English is light-years ahead of my German.....
Actually, I am enjoying the Ricoh color rendition, and am just hoping to find image quality that captures the feeling of "being" in the photo, without spending too much time doing PP, and without paying a fortune. At heart I am just a point-and-shooter... ;)

Beautiful work! I love the "feel" of these pictures - the calming country scenery. Very special indeed ;) .

also comes to screen view :D i am travelling for at the moment & these images look nowhere near as excellent on my little laptop as they do on my home screen

as for the mentioned DP (Foveon) ... i brought it with me - even if i dont use it - it goes with me :? it is a strange 'Voodoo' creature for sure ;) :D

Thank you for looking again. Yes, pictures depends also on a good screens in digi-times. And about the foveon: If the voodoo helps for better pictures, why not lugging around one of the DPs ;)
