back after an absence , hanging out in the e-p1.net forum where my name is cosinaphile, if you forum hop or have a m4\3 machine its a nice place to visit ,with lots of nice folks .......when i joined this forum i was using the gx200 and the cx-1 cameras i still own and enjoy

but i was at a camera store where they had a mint demo\return of the gxr with the 28-300 for 350 and a mint s10 24-72 unit for 250 so i got both and have been very pleased with it , its a lot of camera in a small package , the flash is pretty decent and the user interface and intuitiveness of menus is everything ive come to love in the ricoh way

ill be posting more pics soon........... cheers

also got a samsung tl500]ex1 which is a hell of a machine too

Hi ricohlizer and welcome back! Sorry, I missed your initial post. It seems you bought some new toys? ;) How do you like the EX1 compared with GX200 (aside the GX200 noisy sensor)?

the ex1 is a great machine but the gx200 is smaller and more elegant if noisier...... the 24-72 modules and its noise profile on the gxr is in the same ballpark as the ex1 ....the ex1 has good menus but it does not surpass the intuitiveness of the ricoh menu system , whih i believe to be the best in the photographic world

the ex1 has its lens speed going for ir 1.8 to 2.4 and the lens is very sharp even open , also im loving the mini filter and vignette filter in camera
as well as all the other post process options in camera

the most fun im having is with the gxr and the 24-72 nodule cant waigt to get an aps c module , either the 28 0r the 50 whatever is cheaper

im going for the cheaper of the 2 to save money

At least in Germany, both A12 modules seem to have the same price - 670 EUR (Foto Koch, Düsseldorf). However, the A12/28 will be available only by the end of November.

thanks gerd looking for an apsc module here in usa , but they are expensive

I have the same problem, I'm debating on getting the S10 just because people on the forum say its like a GR3, but the optics of the A12 are much better. I know they will probably make the M mount adapter, but that's another problem. The lenses are very expensive. This is one thing I have hated about how lenses are priced, no company has seemed to make a lense series that is very affordable. I don't have $10-20,000 to spend on camera lenses, but I can manage $700 eventually. So the A12 is still within reach, but I must wait longer.

macsareback, I'm not quite sure where you read the S10 is like GRD3? True, they both share very similar feature set, but GRDIII lens is sharper and more contrast. In addition, it allows to use f1.9 while S10 "only" f2.5. And finally, there is a question of size/weight, where the GRDIII wins hands down! S10 is of course more versatile because of zoom.

As for the M mount lenses, there actually ARE M mount lens makers with very competitive lenses and with very good quality/price ratio. Look for example at the Voigtlander lenses. Most of them can be bought well under 1000USD. Many of them are directly comparable with Leica lenses. Check for example this discussion:

As you can see, you can get some very nice M mount lenses and some of them relative cheap (like the lovely 40/1.4 for 370-420USD!).
