My vote went to Wouter "New Year's Day" as I really like the low level shot and the b&w works very well on this image. Most people would probably use color for fireworks but I find it refreshing to have it in b&w.

My 2nd vote was for urban_alchemist - "Fireworks", I like the colors and the fact that the people on the boat are slightly blurry but the fireworks and background is sharp. I don't like the back on the left hand side though and it is unfortunate to have it there. Would've also cropped the bottom slightly to have less of the railing in there.

And the winner is VladimirV and his "Good Day" shot! Congratulations!

The winning photo was my clear favorite from the moment it was uploaded. In my opinion, it best matches last month theme. It's dynamic, full of life and well spotted. I believe it was partially a "luck" shot as the wind playing with rubbish is usually very unpredictable? ;)

From the rest of participated photos I would like to pick the Wouter's fireworks. The hazy atmosphere along with the limited lightning and B&W conversion makes this shot a very attractive and intriguing. I really like the two figures in the back and the street name plate in front of the shot. It's a pity the small figure (probably a child?) has a tree "growing" from his head so it's almost lost in the photo.

I also like the c3m's "Christmas Tree" shot, mainly for its colorfulness. Maybe not the best shot for "celebration" theme but it's a definitely nice looking texture! ;)

The rest of photos are nice too! But in my opinion, some of them does not match the "theme" very well? I mean, I'm sure they were all taken during this or that celebration. But only the photographer and the captured people can tell us the story behind the celebration? Some of the shot's can simply be anything one can imagine? Hope you understand what I mean and you will not take it personally? ;) I know how hard it to select the best photo matching the contest theme.

Thank you all who participated!

Thanks to all who voted for my picture!
I enjoy the competitions as they are varied and show some great photos every month and what you can get out of the cameras. As suggested I hope we can have a just for fun weekly or bi-weekly competition where the winner picks the next theme. Also I hope to re-introduce the rule of taking the pictures in the contest month as I liked this.

Pavel is right that it was a lucky shot with the wind like this but it pays off to have a camera ready to take the shot. ;)
