Infrared images

Infrared images - visible and near-IR sample from GX100

This weekend I played a bit with my GX100 and IR filter (Kenko R72), here is one sample pair of images - the first one taken in normal visible light, and the second one in infrared:

As always, the brightest in the near-IR is the vegetation ...

The IR image is taken without any modification of the camera, using full aperture and 0.3 s exposure (at ISO80).

What effect would the addition of a polarizing filter do to the IR image?

Almost nothing. Darken the polarized portion of the sky - which is already quite dark due to the IR filter. And reduce reflection on the river, also already very dark in near-IR. Not much more ..

Thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah IR is always cool. One of the best ways to make photos in bright sunlight no worries about harsh shadows and warm sun-set/rise warm light.

Certainly now with all the new leaves and grass, that makes for nice white surreal images. Also the long exposures make you slow down and think before you shoot.

I still need to check how my GXR A12/28 and P10 handle the R72 filter.

The IR surreal lighting is very pleasant for looking. The scenery looks like covered by snow but there is apparently something wrong as winter shots look a bit different. :)
