Yes , after many years waiting for a real replacement for my pocketable and trusty powershot s70 , I placed my order today for the new ricoh grd III !
My name is Alex and I´m a spanish guy living in Japan , I´m a lover of street photography but not always achive what I want ...he,he..

If you check my ricoh grdIII link below you´ll find what it can be a big surprise ...

Keep shooting !

Hi Alex and welcome on board! How come Spanish guy ends up in Japan? ;) There are some wonderful street shots in you photo blog. You are too modest with yourself! I guess most of them are taken with dslr? I hope you will enjoy your new toy and share some photos with us?

BTW, I just read your blog that you should get 8GB UltraII with your shiny new GRD3? If you can, try to exchange it for let's say 4GB Extreme3 or 4GB Panasonic Class 6. UltraII is somewhat slow with Ricoh cameras and big cards like this are even slower. And if you are a RAW shooter, or you plan to start with RAW, you may be disappointed by its performance. Just an idea ;)

Hi Alex, welcome, very interesting blog

I really liked the image loverivernight8.jpg. Looks like a HDR image with a long shutter speed perhaps?

Hi Alex! You have very good photos in your page. It is nice to see that some of Ricoh users are same history than me. Before my first Ricoh (GX100) I owned PowerShot S-series camera (S45). The size and body-quality was something like in Ricoh. Of course Ricoh is better :). Actually it was my first camera and at that time I didn't know very much about camera brands.

Thank you very much everyone for the kind welcome !

Well , let´s say that a few years ago I had a beautiful japanese flatmate while in London ... you can imagine the rest ! :D

Yes , most of them are taken with a 5D and 28mm or 35mm , but there are also taken with ps s70 (this week b&w ones) and also from film cameras like fuji natura classica ,minolta hi-matic af-d and sd and eos kiss.

Are you talking about this one ??? , well is just iso 3200 and a considerably amount of noise reduction ! :?

I love the s70 , full manual , raw , really compact but above iso 200 is a disaster and the lcd is so small.I couldn´t find anything really better on this size until now.

Odklizek , thanks so much for the advice !! I just phone to the shop and asked them to change it , finally I´ll go for the 8 giga version of the extreme III 30mb/s edition , there is not much difference in price .. thank you !!

Welcome to the group!

I like your pictures and am looking forward to see what you do with your new GRD III, it should fit your style very well.

You are welcome! I'm sure this new Extreme III 30MB/s edition will be a great addition to GRDIII.

BTW, I will start new thread for "GRDIII RAW writing speeds" (there is a similar post in GRDI, II, GX100 and 200 discussions) so please, don't forget to add your writing speed numbers! I'm curious if this new Sandisk is faster than Panasonic Class 6.

Thanks Vladimir , I like shooting close to my subjects and almost always use fixed 28mm and 35mm , also I think I´ve never used the zoom with my powershot s70 ...
So the grd should fit my style well !

don't forget to add your writing speed numbers!

I´ll do it !!
