How cold is it in your country?

This morning it was minus eleven degrees Celsius in the Netherlands:

Heh maybe I should take a photo of temperature here in Zilina? Today, we got -19º and tomorrow's prediction is below -20º. All LCDs in my car have a serious problem to refresh. At least the car can still start ;)

That's colder than 'my' part of the Highlands of Scotland...maybe minus 3C overnight and plus 2C today - beats last winter when we regularly saw minus 16C and we stay close to the sea and only 73 metres above sea level (I know that would be a mountain then in NL!).

The -20°C was beaten today. Our alcohol thermometer has no problems to measure yet and stopped down on -22°C this morning.

Oh dear, sorry guys, so cold. :(
I am sending some warmth via the internet.
Adelaide today was a minimum of 16. That's +16 Celsius with a max of +31 Celsius.
I guess it won't be long and summer will be upon you.
The downside of all this is the energy we use to either heat or cool our abodes.

This morning before sunrise -8 C. Not unusual for this time of year. Only a few inches of snow on the ground

This is what showed the thermometer in my car...

Pretty "cool", don't you think? :)

And here are two shots from morning walk to work...

Well, you wouldn't say it's cold here, exactly, but it is unusually cool for summer (like, around 25 degrees C or less most days). This has to be the coolest summer I've ever experienced - lots of rain, cool breeze/wind, clouds, etc. Very unusual for this part of the world during summer. I've had to wear tracksuit pants/jeans, long-sleeved tops and socks on many occassions this summer. There's only been a handful of days where it has been very hot and humid, like it normally would be here at this time of year, and only one or two days recently where it reached over 30 degrees C. I still even have to put the quilt on (and off) in bed at night. There's currently really bad flooding in some rural areas further north also. It's like summer never arrived this time round.

Even though I would prefer it to be slightly warmer, I'm not really complaining, as this type of weather for me, is much better than sweating it out in the heat and humidity. But the rain has meant an increase in mosquitos - I have a number of mozzy bites on me (especially leg area) as they get me during my sleep   .

And then, there was the unusually warm winter we had last year...not to mention, the large number of natural disasters (drought, flooding, cyclones, storms, mild earthquakes, etc.) we've had in Australia the last few years (particularly the last year or two). If this strange weather is not enough proof for the climate change skeptics, then I don't know what is...All you have to do is look around you, and you can see that something's not right...

You've got that right Athena!

Here is was minus 16 degrees Celsius this morning at 7.00. (unfortunately I had my Ricoh with me).
Brrrr....... The good news is: No mosquito's here

Yesterday's dog walk (dogs not in shot) - clear & crisp but only minus 3C. Today the temperature has soared (to plus 3C), the cloud has come in off the Atlantic and we have a breeze.....looking at the Atlantic pressure charts (a habit for island dwellers) I'd say watch out northern Europe in the middle of next week!

Athena, I have a cus who's farm is just near Wee Waa.
I think this flooding is a periodic thing but it hits them hard when it does.

The floods are the worst some areas have ever experienced, so I hope your cousin (and Wee Waa) will be ok this time round.

Hi everybody,
i live in Frankfurt / Germany. This City is surrounded by little mountains and a lot of forests. So, it is NEVER really hot in summer or very cold in winter. At last it was like this. Last winter was a very cold one and the one in the year before too. And this one is a very cold one again. Not like at Pavels home, but for us it is COLD. There a two rivers in this city. A small one called "Nidda" and a big one with the name "Main".

The last time the Nidda was totally frozen is more than 20 years ago......
But first see the temperature

and then the rivers......
