High Contrast B&W

Hello everyone,
I have been 'away' for a while, up to my neck in not very exciting and definitely non-photographic projects!
However, I did often take my GRD3 with me and here are a few from the last few weeks.

Well, thank you all for your kind comments! Much appreciated...
It was refreshing to try and look at the world in high-contrast B&W. I just cannot get excited about the colours right now (though I note that the GR-shooters are producing some super-saturated colours with relish, elsewhere on this blog). For me, this late summer weather is more about light and shade, so this, perhaps, was the therapy I was needing to get my toe back into the water.
Could be that I dig out the GXR again sometime soon...

Except for #2, they are all more or less straight from the GRD3 jpegs, with only slight adjustment of tone and/or crop in Adobe Elements 8.0.
#2 is a pure colour to B&W conversion though, which is probably why it is much less grainy!
I was very happy with the results, I must admit...good, quick, easy fun-photos! Sometimes I worry about sharpness too much...

Thank you! I have now tried a few in the same mode on my GXR and find the pictures much grainier: I will post a few later on.

yes this was a lighthouse though it is no longer in use. I guess it was short because it was only intended to be seen from inshore, and therefore no curvature of the Earth problems to contend with!

Hi Andy,

Looks like we should have a lighthouse thread (to go with bridges). Here is another one of our favourite cropped as you suggested - neither B&W or Hi Contrast.

In case anyone is curious this one is still working but doesn't need to be tall either as its purpose is to take you around some narrows in a firth. It's quite rare around here as it is an occulting rather than flashing light.
