Hello everyone,
I have been using my Ricoh GR digital III for about one year and somehow re-found this forum recently (I have read some forum posts here during my search for a camera, but forgot about this forum until now)---
Well, what is there to say about me?
I am an art student, doing all kind of stuff - mostly new media, digital painting, conceptual art and photography...
About what photography is for me:
I am intrigued by forms, shapes and patterns that I see every day, that are forming themselves by being viewed upon from a certain perspective and under a certain light. I want to capture these little moments that are barely noticed when not consciously seen.
I am also interested in the situations that form in front of my eye when humans interact with each other or their environment.
And last but not least, I use my camera to digitalize some artworks that are too big for my scanner
About why I bought the GRD III:
I have been photographing since 2004 with a Fujifilm F700 (for the gearheads: I think it was the first camera with Fuji's Super CCD SR sensor of which I believe the EXR sensor is a successor), but I would not consider that as "good photography", more as wildly taking snapshots which changed drastically with the camera. lol
Then I bought the GRD III after searching for a good, compact camera that delivers good image quality for about half a year. DSLRs were too big, m4/3 had its initial flaws (i.e. mediocre lenses as of winter 2009/2010) and the zoom lenses of other premium compacts were more or less a compromise with which I did not want to live.
So, all that was left was the GRD III with a decent sensor and the best lens in a compact package or the GXR with the A12 module which was a tad bit too big and too expensive for me. What hold me back really was the price, but once I got to use it, it is more than worth every cent
Photographs will follow later...
