I found it only fitting that upon this day that Ricoh buys Pentax Imaging division that I register here and look forward to exploring these forums. I'm excited to see what path that Ricoh intends to go down with the Pentax brand and even though I've never owned a Ricoh camera, I look forward to being part of this community (and I'm sure you'll get a few more Pentaxians coming to these forums).

Hi Roland, and a big welcome.
One thing both Ricoh and Pentax do is make some awesome cameras. I'm sure their combined tech skills will evolve some new innovative products.
I have noticed that both companies have high grade optics. Particularly those envious Pentax pancake lenses. I have nearly bought a Pentax body just to get those lenses.
Its going to be an interesting next 12 months or more I think.
What are you currently using? The K5 looks nice!

Hi Roland and welcome here! I hope you will enjoy this forum and find it a useful source of knowledge about Ricoh cameras. We have a great bunch of very friendly people and new folks are always welcome!

I personally look forward for more news and announcements about the Ricoh-Pentax future. I expect only exciting news and developments! ;) Both Pentax and Ricoh have great asset of technologies and some very talented engineers/designers. GRD, GXR, K-X, K-R, and various great lenses are only few examples. We may see some great cameras designed for photographers and not just cameras designed by the marketing departments :)

Thanks Thelps and Odklizec for the greetings. Currently I use the K5 having upgraded from the K10D and it's definitely an amazing camera, the image quality, the rugged build, the ergonomics and button placements etc. I do mostly landscape, macro and wildlife photography and would like to do more street shooting.

It'll be interesting to see what areas Ricoh intends to develop in, whether it'll be mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, compacts, DSLR's, digital rangefinder type cameras such as the X100, so and so forth. I know Pentaxians have been clamoring for some more lenses for their DSLR's, there are still a few "holes" that need to be filled in the lens lineup.

In any case, feel free to visit pentaxforums, it's very similar to this forum: friendly, helpful people.
