hi everyone,
I'm new here. Just signed up few minutes ago.

I used to have a GRII that I bought in Japan, I loved it very much. But I was so unlucky, I lost it, probably in a taxi.
Now, I'm considering buying a GXR with M-Mount A12. Quite tempting, but i reckon it's not cheap :)

Hi and welcome to the forum, of course as mentioned many times the GXR/M would be cheaper than an M8 and better IMO.
Sorry to hear of your lost your GRD, someone got a good find!

Hi onitsuka and welcome here! Too bad to hear about your loss. Well, GXR M mount is definitely not cheap, but as Tim correctly pointed, it;s way cheaper than the M8 or even M9 ;) True, you can buy something like Sony Nex, Oly/Pana m43 and with appropriate adapter you will be able to attach nearly any manual lens you want. However, you will newer get the same level of support for manual lenses as you will get with the GXR M mount, not to mention the feature enhancing firmwares ;) These alone are definitely worth the premium GXR price.

Enjoy the forum and good luck with your next camera! ;)

i'm also a new comer, and I love my GRD3... my 1st Ricoh camera.
sometimes I even like her more than my D300s.

Hi thelps and odklizec,
Appreciate your input.
At this moment I'm trying to find out the total cost to get a complete GXR system with an M-Mount module, an optical viewfinder (will it work?) plus probably a Zeiss or Voigtlander lens. How about that?

Hi m3e92, same here, I have a DSLR too. Probably I will sell it as soon as I'm comfortable with manual focus ;)

Ciao ciao,
O

I'm afraid, the optical VF is only good for framing. For focus with manual lenses you will have to use either LCD or buy the external EVF. Yes, it's expensive, but in my opinion, it's much better option for manual focus than using rear LCD with extended hands ;)
