Hello from Peterborough, UK

Photography has been an interest since my student days and I have owned and used quite a few cameras over the years - Werra, Practika STL, Leica M2, various Pentaxes, currently K-5, Leica M9 and very recently a Ricoh GXR P10. I am impatiently waiting for the A12 M mount when stocks arrive at the end of the month, I hope.

Since I retired a few years ago I have had more time for photography and travel. I like to travel light so the GXR is very appealing as it is a proper photographer's camera in a small package which will allow me to benefit from the advantages of the versatility of the P10 as well as the superb quality of my Leica lenses.

As I am feeling my way into the new world of Ricoh I am sure I will learn a lot from this forum.

Welcome to the forum ayewing! It's a friendly place where we share images, knowledge, insights and a little frustration now & then. ;) Ken

Hi ayewing and welcome here! Please don't hesitate to post some photos even if taken with a non-ricoh camera ;) Enjoy the forum and your upcoming new toy M module. It would be really interesting to hear your opinion regarding the M module performance compared to M9.

Hi and welcome,
Just like Pavel, I'd be interested to hear how it stacks up against the M9 in a fair and reasoned comparison.
Sure they are not the same and I don't want to start any flame wars, but a unbiased evaluation of them is valid I feel, taking into consideration the cost of both of course.

Re: Hello from Peterborough, UK - thanks for the welcome

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome from Ken, Pavel and Tim. My A12 M mount has just arrived and I will spend a few days getting to know it and work out the somewhat impenetrable manual. I usually find it is easier to try things out first and then go back to the manual. Browsing through the forum is most helpful.

Once I have sussed it out I will try to do some paired images using the GRX and the M9 with the same lens and as far as possible with the same lighting. Probably best done using a tripod. Obviously the crop factor would make a difference.

Archie

Yes hello from Switzerland. You certainly have a lovely camera and even with the P10, very capable. I love the Black and White images that the camera supplies. Enjoy your new kit.
