GXR S10 or GRD III?

I am coming back to Ricoh :D but torn between these two models.

Can you guys please help me taking a decision by sharing pros/cons of the two models? Since have used Ricoh GRD I/III in past, I am aware of general optical differences between s10 and GRD III lens. I am looking for some feedback on day to day operational/performance differences between the two siblings.

A tough decision ;) I only yesterday received S10 so it will take me some time to evaluate and compare it with GRDIII. My priority for now is to compare it with GX100/200 as these two cameras are the most natural siblings and many GX owners probably consider if the S10 is worth its money?

All I can tell you now is that GRDIII is considerably smaller and lighter with noticeably faster lens. S10, on the other hand, provides banding free high ISO photos and got some new great features like +-2EV bracketing, image settings are now adjustable in 9 steps (instead of +-2 steps in case of GRDIII). And EVF is simply gorgeous and much better to use than optical viewfinder. At least I like it a lot.

Couldn't agree more Pavel, but I like S10 at ISO 3200 for B&W sometime it can compensate for the f1.9 of GDR III, in my opinion it is very close to GRD at ISO 1600.
I hope you will look in to and compare with GRD at high ISO on long term testing. :D

Thanks for the feedback, After reading posts here and from brjohn on other forum, I finally took a shot and just ordered GXR+S10
Now I am hoping we will have a fast lens for GXR making it GRD for my needs ;)

This really is the question at the moment. The GXR/S10 is worth a lot more, and while I don't think the GXR/S10 is overly expensive, I will say it makes GX100/200's bargains at the moment. If I can't spend on the GXR, I still can't quite deceide which is the better buy the real cheap GX100 or the cheap GX200.

sagar, this would make for a really nice kit, in small bag like Rui and Gasoroni have discussed here viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3916 and it would be light and capable. Look forward to your views on the GXR/S10 only as this seems to be the GX300 for now!

Tim, this is my third and going to be a bold attempt. I have sold all my SLR stuff and plan to make GRXS10 as my only camera for long time, unless there is some serious flaw in the camera (which I am sure will not be the case)

I hope to receive my camera by Monday/Tuesday so hope to start sharing my experience and some pics..I have never waited so egarly for a camera :D

I do wonder if this could help make better photos. I find sometimes it hard to switch camera OSes and this impedes me at times.

Staying with one and get real familar may be a good thing!

I fully agree. After having a nice start at photography, somehow I got drifted to gear acquisition syndrome wasting most of my time in reading, buying and selling gears than going out and taking some pictures. I realized it little late and when I looked back whatever photography I did during these period was with Ricoh GRD, so took a hard decision to come back and stick with it and was about to buy GRDIII

But I really liked the concept of GXR and with a hope that Ricoh will at least launch couple of few good lens units, I decided to jump on GXR line

Well I can honestly say all my SLR gear has been gathering dust since I got the GXR a few weeks ago. It could be that the GXR is my new toy but I have a feeling it's more. The size of the camera just makes more sense when you want your camera everywhere. It's a lot more discreet than pointing an SLR at someone not to mention very quiet shutter compared to my 30D.

I think I might put all my SLR gear up for sale come March depending on my usage habits.

I love the feel of the GXR with the S10 module. It does show some noise but I like it, especially in black and white. In open daylight the images are superb and even when using the A12 I find that it is sometimes hard for me to tell which module I used if I have the zoom in use.....I have only shot about 700-900 pics so far and am not happy with aperture 2 for these, the jpegs look better in this case, and BTW, they do look great. I am not looking for a low light only camera, I have my old and trusty fuji F30 for that purpose if needed but find I really like to use a camera with good light whenever possible...so far, so good...confused with all of the negatives over at dpreview.
