GXR - Fish Plate

Nice colours! Which Biogon you have, the ZM?
Am I seeing an increasing interest and sales of the GXR lately? or is a wrong impression? ;) :D

Beautiful colors. Will be interesting to here about your experience regarding the manual focusing.

Albert,

I don't know what is happening elsewhere in the world but in the UK two of the larger on-line dealers (Clifton Cameras & SRS Microsystems) have been discounting remaining stocks of GXR very heavily (with the exception of the ' M' module). For example SRS had (all gone now) the S10 kit with body for 235 EUR. I've been agonising for ages over a GXR as I don't want to go back to toting big bags again but I really admire many of the photos taken with it on this forum. I've just ordered a GXR A12 50mm kit from Clifton Cameras for 413 EUR which includes a 'free' SC 55 L case and delivery (due to arrive this morning) - they were even offering 0% APR over 12 months with a 20% deposit! They did have the A12 28mm at the same price (without a case) but they have all gone now. I think this makes the A12 50 an even bigger bargain.

So one of the common objections to the GXR was initial cost and this has been reduced greatly while stocks last with these 2 dealers. The other objection was the need to 'buy-in' to the lensors to make it worthwhile but when you can buy a A 12 or A 16 lensor & body for less than a GRD4, you could regard the camera with one lensor as 'complete' (this is what I told my wife..of course she doesn't believe me but she does believe that I believe what I say at the time...).

The bigger picture may be more sinister though for the future of the GXR or even Ricoh as a camera brand.

I love my GRD4 and it will always be the camera in the pocket but I'm looking forward to a change in focal length too and a chance for some good 'bokeh'.

I don't know whether falling prices influenced Peter/Petach's decision but it looks like he bought an almost new kit and second hand prices are influenced by new prices too.

Richard
