GXR data/GPS port ?

On one of the product pictures from the Japanese 'dc watch' website there is a GRX unit shown with a data port between the hinges of the battery cover. So on the bottom of the GXR control unit.
You can see it on the following page, somewhere in the middle. I wonder if this port is still/also there in the production units of the GXR or that is was part of a prototype only.

The manual does not mention this port at all, nor do other websites mention this port.

I mean this port:

Complete page:

Any thoughts?

Interesting! There is indeed no mention of this connector in GXR manual. But I see strange to see such exposed connector without any cover? So I believe there is either missing cover or it's just a prototype unit port. But look at this DPReview image:

There seems to be a rubber cover? So there may be this connector under it? I will ask my Ricoh contact about it. Smart idea! It opens doors for future GXR expandability.

I don't think so. The HDMI is clearly described in manual and it's located on the right side of the camera (along with USB and A/V connector). This must be something else, most probably for future and not yet announced accessory. I guess the GXR body will not be released so frequently as GX or CX cameras. I beleive that one version of GXR body will last at least two years and only camera/accessory units will be released more frequently (each quarter of year something new?).

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now, and found this while digging through the older posts and got intrigued.

The port is there - I just popped the cover off of mine to take a look at it. Would really like to know if anyone has any more information on what this is for - would be cool if there was something in the works that could be attached to the bottom of the camera with the mount screw.

Did anybody ever find out anything about this port? It's the exact same type of port used for the viewfinder connector. Of course, who knows if the same data protocol or even the same connections are used for both. I'm tempted to plug in my viewfinder there to see what happens.

Any takers? ;)

There is a mockup of a GPS-vertical-grip. It was showing with the other non-photographic-modules. I think its fit right in there.
