GXR A12-M pictures and travel report

I have not been posting for a while here since I have been away on a lomng holiday through Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong.
I took my GXR with the Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm, Voigtlander Heliar f4.5 15mm, Voigtlander Nokton f1.4 35mm and Canon f1.8 50mm lenses and the A12 28mm module as a backup camera. The GXR performed great and the lenses complemented each other very well, although the Heliar and GR lens were the ones to see the most use overall.

Next to the GXR, I gave my new Asus Transformer tablet a proper trial on how it works as a travel device and it did not disappoint. Where a friends' iPad 2 failed miserably for every single task, the Transformer worked like a charm and managed to handle everything from backing up pictures to blogging and uploading pictures without problems. So if you are thinking of travelling light but want a proper device to store your pictures on ansd be able to upload them, forget the iPad but look at the Asus Transformer.

The trip started out in Hanoi, then on to Hue, Hoi An, Saigon, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap for Angkor Wat, back to Hanoi, Halong Bay and then on to Hong Kong. There was a lot to cover and even more to see but it was worth it.

Enough with the talk, below are some pictures from the trip.

In case you still don't have enough, you can find more on my blog.

So many nice shots but the first of the couple by the water - I have to ask, what caused that lighting effect? It almost looks like UV light or photo luminescent paint, very ethereal.

Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the pictures.

The one with the couple by the water is a mix between the way the Nokton rendered the scene, helped by coloured lights in the trees next to where they were standing. It gives a great look to the picture and I really like the result.

Hi Christian,
hard to quickly choose favourites from your excellent and very varied set! And thanks for information on the Heliar and the Asus Transformer. I may well tread this trail sometime soon!
All the best, and keep up the stunning work,
Andy

Beautiful shots - great travel photography.
I especially like #5, the smiling man in the green raincoat - seems to be a very precise moment, that was probably also hard to get because of the rain. And there is beauty in the man's countenance.

Cristian, my congratulations! It is really a wonderful set of pictures! It is really hard to pick one among all of them... Bravo!

A great set Cristian. Thanks for taking us with you via your photos. Having to choose the best shot, I would probably pick either #8, the BW pier in water, or #23, the lonely boat among the rocks in the sea. Or something else? :)
It also is great to see Pikachu is still alive and merry. :)

Peter

An outstanding collection Cristian! I do have some favorites: the 1st one - the couple, and #18 - the dramatic night shot of temples & their reflections in water.
