GRIII Diary Edition shutter button problem

I recently purchased a GRIII Diary Edition and find the shutter button needs quite a hard press to release the shutter, it doesn't respond to a gentle full press. The half press works fine to activate the AF, but the full press doesn't release the shutter unless I remember to press extra firmly so I miss a lot of shots.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is this normal for a GRIII?

Hello RJ86,
Is it normal ? I would say not really on my models you don't have to press harder than with any other compact.
If you can go in a shop selling GRs to try another one.

On my other cameras a full press always releases the shutter which is how I would expect a shutter button to operate so I figure this must be faulty.
I sent it in to Ricoh service for assessment so will wait and see.
