pentax user here, hopefully we can all get along now that ricoh owns pentax =)

Same with me, I am a Pentax and Nikon user and will continue using these two products regardless who owns Pentax.

Hi people and welcome to the forum, I am more excited since the announcement and certainly not annoyed. I think Pentax have always made fine products and the technical expertise of both companies will combine to make some great products I am sure. I hope the Pentax name will stick around, not sure how that will work but why not, it has quite a following. If Pentax had bought Ricoh and the GR Digital IV had a Pentax name with much the same form I'd still buy one. Thanks for joining and you are welcome to post images here. Pavel you may have to announce how this will work?

absolutely, some of my best friends are Pentax users and I envy their gear. The K5 is one awesome bit of kit and I sometimes lurk here having a look.

Hi adpo and violini and welcome here! I'm still in shock from this news but in a positive way! I see a bright future both for Ricoh and Pentax users. Ricoh is maybe small but very creative player who is not shy to try new and even crazy ideas that would never be tried by the big players. There's a lot controversy surrounding the Pentax Q system. It's a perfect example of system I would expect to see from Ricoh. It may sound silly to build a system around the tiny sensor. But it may open a lot of creative options and definitely forces the engineers to squeeze out maximum out of the tiny sensor. I hope Ricoh will not kill this controversial yet very interesting project.

well, as a peace offering, here's a picture i took a while ago using my kit lens. Just as that kit lens was an introduction into the world of photo, i hope this would make a nice intro into our ricoh-pentax friendship :D or something like that anyways

as for the Q, i hope they somehow make a GRD/Q hybrid thing :D

Welcome! And welcome to all the other Pentaxians dropping by here.

I'm not sure what to make of all of this and I am sure many Pentax users feel the same. I hope they will maintain the best of each brand. There's a lot of common philosophy in there, enough to be hopeful of a successful merger.

I can tell you I can't wait for the GRD IV and the GXR M Mount. I don't know how this merger will affect these two hopefully soon to be released products but in the short time I've owned and used my GRD III I've been very impressed.

Just returned from an 80+ mile backpacking/hiking trip and I purposely bought the GRDIII for this trip. It excelled to say the least.

Here's one of my favs from the trip of my son on our last day hiking looking back from where we had come:
