GR21 little round window "popped out"

Hi all -

I'm the owner of a GRD I and GR1s, and recently acquired a great condition, used Ricoh GR21. I've noticed something strange, though. Specifically, the little round glass window to the right of the lens has "popped" out. Also, the LCD doesn't work. I know that the LCD problem is common, but what about the window? Are there any places in North America where I can get this window replaced, or do I have to send to Ricoh Japan... I'm a bit worried about dust and/or water getting into it, and I just don't like having a missing window.

Thx,

Hi Oliver and welcome here!

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. Unfortunately, the LCD problem is a widely known problem of most of GR film cameras. I never heard about your second problem, but I guess it's because of the camera age and maybe not always careful handling? In any case, you can try your luck with criscam (http://www.criscam.com/). But from what I've heard, they are out of stock with Ricoh film camera parts and they no longer accept them. But I may be wrong? Your other option may be to send the camera to Japan. I would suggest you to try contact the Ricoh Japan via this form:

Hope this helps?

Thanks for that! I'll try Ricoh Japan. Since I only use the four basic modes, plus aperture and exposure comp, I'm not that disturbed by the blank LCD. But I'd love to have the glass covering the right side of camera's body, although in a funny way it looks kinda "aftermarket", the way VW owners pop out one light to get more airflow! hehehe..

Yep, it's a GR21. Beautiful camera, in almost immaculate condition besides the screen and the little window... I've also got a pristine GR1s and cult-classic GRD I.
