I gave trying to repair my GR1v LCD on my own as the next step was the equivalent of open heart surgery! So I sent it to Johnsons Photopia here in the UK (the repair agent that Ricoh used in the UK when the GR1 series was current) and they quoted for a new LCD & a bit of a service for £85 including return shipping.
The faults were the classic LCD on the top panel but also the data in the viewfinder was invariably missing (focus indicators, shutter speeds, distance indicator).
It came back yesterday good as new with the LCD & the viewfinder LCD working perfectly again. I asked for the faulty items to be returned to me as well so I could check them out but apparently they repaired the LCD rather than replaced it... the service sheet says that they repaired an electrical circuit and the LCD. So I'm very tempted to strip it down again (as far as I dare) to see if I can see where the repairs were made. But not yet as I'm in the process of wasting a few rolls through it ;-)
