GR1s Fault - The Mystery of 19

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can offer some advice or has encountered this problem before. The last two rolls of film I have popped in my GR1s have both failed at frame 19. The first roll was a 24 exposure roll but at frame 19 the counter started flashing and the shutter wouldn't fire. I opened and closed the back and it wound down to 6. I fired off a couple of shots and thought it was just a blip but when I went to use it again for the last two frames the same thing happened. Few days later I loaded a 36 exposure roll which loaded fine. At frame 19 the same thing happened. After opening and closing the back it again wound down to 6 frames (although it didn't actually wind down). I finished off the film straight away and the camera wound all the remaining film back. After developing I found that the film was only exposed down to 19 where the problem occurred. Nothing for the supposed remaining 6.

Strange problem and I'm really not sure what's wrong with it. Thought this would be the best place to ask for some help.

Update...

Nothing to do with frame 19 but it is a recurring fault. Tried taking the battery out after every use but no change as expected. This fault just randomly happens at any point during a roll of film. Will be working fine then the next time I try to take a shot it refuses and the frame counter starts flashing.

Anyone experiences this before?

Had a similare problem with a Ricoh my-1. Maybe a battery issue with under powered batteries.
Any chance of trying new batteries.
