GR nightshots

I wanted to try the GR out again for some night work, set it to 100ISO between f4 - 5.6 and used the 2 sec delayed timer. I found appropriate items to rest the camera on to get the images.

I am very pleased with the results despite the mixed and difficult lighting conditions.

Thanks Spode,

There were certainly a few aliens on the streets that night, did not risk photographing them though!

That answers one of my questions then Iansky.
Great set of images.

I tend to have a small tripod in my camera bag for just this kind of photography :D

Thanks arkadius,

I have a Gorilla Pod but as yet have not used it very often, it is nice and small/light so easy to carry and offers an amazing amount of flexibility.

Thanks Andy,

I was delighted at how ell the GR handled the mixed lighting and only needed a minor tweak on colour correction.

Hey Don, good to see you lurking here still.
I've been keeping an eye on your Nikon A images.
Many prefer the BW from the GR but I have to say for my eye the BW from the A seem to be a bit more graduated and better to me.

I do like the look and feel of the A but I had the chance of a deal on the GR (£300 - new with some trade in) so took it.

No regrets and as I have had Ricoh's before (still have an aoriginal GRD it was not so much of a mystery and easy to adapt, same style and build quality but with bigger better sensor.

I am sure there is very little difference between the A and the GR IQ wise and with the price difference being as large as it is the deal I was offerred was a definite "No brainer".

Happy with it and not interested in being picky about the quality from either - they both deliver the goods, the only thing that may let them down is the operator!
