GR - focus button half press

Hello,

This is really basic but I've been spending a few days getting used to a second camera and when I came back to the GR I was stumped by a very simple thing. Can you change the function of the shutter button half press? It locks focus and metering but my preference would be to have it lock focus only and not also lock metering, so I can use the button to focus and recompose while continuing to meter the scene. Am I missing something?

This can be done by pressing the rear side button AF before recomposing the image and pressing the shutter button.
If that rear AF button is preset for AF only, it may match with your expectation ?
;)

Agree with Habeascorpus. Rear focus button with AEF/AFL switch is probably the only option to solve your problem. You just have to change the AEL/AFL Setting option in GR menu to AFL.

Thanks (and also to Habeascorpus). I was hoping to leave the AFL/AEL button set to AE just because I'm used to using it that way. But it just occurred to me that I could change my approach slightly and be able to keep the buttons configured the same way. If I lock the exposure first by pressing the back button, then the 1/2 press and hold of the shutter button will be controlling/locking only the focus. Not exactly the same thing but maybe it could work if you get used to it.
