I've finally got the rest of the firmwares updated. My PC which runs Windows 7 just cannot recognise the camera when the USB mode is set to original.
I forgot the trick I learned with the GDRIII. No PC to camera USB connection is ever required. The best and simplest way is simply to:
I forgot the trick I learned with the GDRIII. No PC to camera USB connection is ever required. The best and simplest way is simply to:
- Download the firmware executable from the Ricoh support site
- Format the SD card in the camera, take the card out and put the SD card now called RICOHDCX into a generic card reader connected to the PC
- Execute the firmware executable that's been downloaded. That creates a subdirectory on your HDD named something like "Firmware rel ##" and extracts some files to that
- Just copy the two files with no file extension (e.g. slaunch3 and slaunch7, claunch3 and claunch8, qrflect3 and qrflect7, ylaunch3 and ylaunch7, glaunch3 and glaunch8)
- paste the two files to the root of the SD card.
- With the camera turned off, insert the card back into the camera and enter the up arrow+play key combo shown in the firmware manual (also available on the Ricoh support website)
