excess of sky pictures

I was going to contributing a larger version of this last one (test2, or "reach for the sky") to the contest, because I think it tells a much better story then the one I did submit. But then I went for glossy color instead. :)

Thanks.
I was on holiday in London, and I got this crane-airplane idea in my head early on. This is the best of a lot of attempts. I bet there are not many guys walking about in London looking for cranes and airplanes. :) Well, I had time to take some pictures of the tourist attractions too.

I like this "cranes&fly" shot! Excellent story and capture! I'm only not quite sure about the soft rectangular border around it. Circle vignetting may work and look better here? ;)

I think you're right Pavel, an oval vignetting works better for framing the subject matter. I've always been afraid for large obtrusive vignettings, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Maybe I feel, though, the oval shape helps the cranes a little to catch the plane, decreasing the futileness I perceive in the original picture somewhat.

Tommy, your photo above I like a lot. There is a lot of relevance and abstract thought in those cranes in relation to the aircrafts wings. The cranes mimic the planes wings, for that reason it works for me. Intended or not, its a nice abstract.

Thanks Paul, your comment was very valuable to me!
It was not intentional of me to mimic the plane's wings with the cranes, but it's just one of these kind of thinkings that I try to learn and understand. I know I can sometimes see if a picture works without understanding why, but most of the time it feels like I think I know why a picture should or should not work without being sure if it really does.
