Loved the pictures! I looked at the link you provided also, and it's a great idea - only wish they would come to Australia :) .

Thank you :D
Perhaps they ever go to Australia... Keep an eye on the website :)

Genster,

These look great, I'd be interested to hear how you felt using the camera while grabbing these?

The camera feels good :D I think that the GRD3 ergonomically (also) is a good camera'. (is this what your meant with your question?)

The only con so far: I think the GRD3 can not cope so well with the combination of much sunlight and dark shadows...

Nice photos. This series reminds me of very similar "cow street art" visible on streets across the world some time ago. I believe there should be some pics from this "cow" event also here at ricohforum?

I'm afraid, this is quite normal for all cameras with such small sensor and digital cameras as such. Film is just much more flexible when it comes to highlights and shadows. The only solution (workaround) of this problem is to shoot in RAW and try to restore some details in postprocessing. The thing is that JPEG holds only 8 bit information, while Ricoh RAW is 12 bit. It means that there is more image information stored in RAW than in JPEG. And in good RAW editor you should be able to extract some of the extra data. Unfortunately, you can't expect miracles, especially not from 1/1.7" sensor ;) This is where the APSC and full frame makes a difference.

Thanks for the reply Pavel.
At this point I see a difference between the GRD3 en my Nikon D90, but that is (like you wrote) normal. It's no insuperable problem for me and it certainly does not remove my "Ricoh-pleasure" :)
