Dead Ricoh GR

Hello,

I took a risk and bought a 'dead' 16mp Ricoh GR on eBay. The cosmetic condition is 99% mint. However it is, as advertised, completely dead.

I tried two freshly charged batteries - no luck. I tried connecting it to USB - no luck. I tried the button sequences for master reset and shutter count mode - no luck.

I'm thinking that power is not getting through the circuitry. The battery contacts are intact and not bent. I have tried pushing on the bottom of the battery to make sure it is in good contact - still no luck

Please does anyone have any experience of the internal circuit layout of these cameras. I'm in two minds about sending it to Ricoh or pulling it apart and having a look inside, just in case an obvious wire or connector is loose.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon.

I would consider sending this back to Ricoh before you take it apart.

They will examine it and tell you the repair cost / fault, you can then make an informed decision on the course of action - you never know, it may be a simple fix that they repait FOC.

What have you got to lose?

It may be dead because someone tried to update new firmware with a battery that was not fully charged and died while the firmware update was in progress. If so, send back to Ricoh. They can fix it.
