CX1 Speaker Noise On Focus?

Hi Guys,

New to this board but just and just purchased a CX1. Now this may not be a problem but wanted to check when i focus in on an image (does not matter which mode im on) i can hear a slight noise (like an old TV or Radio not tuned in) which i would describe as interference, this is not loud and may not be a fault but wanted to check if this was normal or not?

Any Thanks

Hi Jackass77 and welcome here! Some noise on focus is normal (CX1 is much less noisy than R8 or R7). Do you hear the sound while the focusing or also after focus lock (with half pressed shutter)? Aside the focus sound, there may be present also image stabilisation noise. Just try turn the IS OFF to see if it helps?

Hi thanks for the reply, i hear the noise during after focus lock and stays until the shot is taken or as long as the button is half pressed. You could well be right about the image stabilization i will have to check when i get back in and see if that eliminates it.

Aside from that im pretty happy with the images also coming from a DLSR background.

If you hear it during half pressed shutter, then it's definitely IS. It's nothing to worry about but it may be annoying. I personally don't use IS. I found the continuous shooting mode much better way to get at last one out of several photos sharp.

Nice to hear you like the CX1. I still think it would be perfect to have RAW in CX1 because in many cases it would save the picture. But we can't have everything ;)

Well thanks again you made me feel a lot better now,i hate taking faulty things back!!

Yes Raw would have been very nice but on a side note the B&W in camera processing is superb and i find myself pretty picky about B&W images as i still shoot with Ilford film!
